The South River is a tributary of the Black River, approximately 75 mi (121 km) long, in southeastern North Carolina in the United States. It rises in northeastern Harnett County, near Angier and approximately 25 mi (40 km) south of Raleigh. It flows SSE past Benson, then SSW passing south of Dunn.

WTKF signed on in 1992 as North Carolina's first FM talk-formatted station. It grew from the now-defunct WBTB/1400, which was licensed to Beaufort, North Carolina.
