Sheppard Air Force Base

Sheppard Air Force Base is a United States Air Force base located five miles (8 km) north of the central business district of Wichita Falls, in Wichita County, Texas, United States. It is the largest training base and most diversified in Air Education and Training Command. The base is named in honor of Texas Senator John Morris Sheppard, a supporter of military preparations before World War II.

Wichita Falls Municipal Airport

Wichita Falls Municipal Airport is an airport located five miles (8 km) north of the central business district of Wichita Falls, a city in Wichita County, Texas, United States. The airport is joint use in that its runways and taxiways are shared with Sheppard Air Force Base. It is mostly used for military aviation due to the air force base located on site, but is also served by American Eagle with service to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.

James V. Allred Unit

The James V. Allred Unit is a prison for males located on Farm to Market Road 369 in Wichita Falls, Texas, United States, 4 miles northwest of downtown Wichita Falls. The prison is in proximity to Iowa Park. The prison, with about 320 acres of land, is a part of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice Region V. It opened in the summer of 1995 and is one of the largest maximum security units in Texas housing approximately 3600 offenders.
