Eldorado is a city in and the county seat of Schleicher County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,951 at the 2000 census, but dropped to 1,800 according to a July 2009 estimate. Eldorado is located on U.S. Highway 277 some 21 miles north of Sonora and 43 miles south of San Angelo, Texas.

Schleicher County, Texas
Schleicher County is a county located on the Edwards Plateau in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 3,461. Its county seat is Eldorado. The county is named for Gustav Schleicher, a German immigrant who became a surveyor and politician. Schleicher County is home to the YFZ Ranch, the reported new headquarters of the FLDS movement headed by Warren Jeffs.

YFZ Ranch
The YFZ Ranch, also known as the Yearning for Zion Ranch, is a 1,700-acre community which housed as many as 700 people just outside of Eldorado in Schleicher County, Texas, United States. It is owned by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (FLDS). It is about 45 miles southwest of San Angelo and 4 miles northeast of Eldorado.

Eldorado Air Force Station
Eldorado Air Force Station located 35 miles south of San Angelo, Texas was one of the four unique AN/FPS-115 PAVE PAWS, early-warning phased-array radar systems. The 8th Space Warning Squadron, 21st Space Wing, Air Force Space Command operated at Eldorado Air Force Station. The Station was associated with Goodfellow Air Force Base, 35 miles north, and was part of the NORAD at Cheyenne Mountain command structure.
