Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center
The Carl R. Darnall Army Army Medical Center is located at Fort Hood, Texas. It originally opened in 1965 as the Darnall Army Community Hospital, replacing the World War II era hospital, a long group of one-story buildings connected with covered walkways. It is named in honor of Brig. Gen. Carl Rogers Darnall, MD. Darnall was the first of three permanent Army hospitals of the 200-300 bed size to open.

Fort Hood shooting
The Fort Hood shooting was a mass murder that took place on November 5, 2009 at Fort Hood, the most populous U.S. military installation in the world, located just outside Killeen, Texas. In the course of the shooting, a single gunman killed 13 people and a total of 30 people were wounded in the incident. It is the worst shooting ever to take place on an American military base. The sole suspect is Nidal Malik Hasan, a 39-year-old U.S. Army major serving as a psychiatrist.

Killeen is a city in Bell County, Texas, in the United States. According to the 2010 census the population of Killeen is 127,921 making it the 21st most populous city in the state of Texas. It is the "principal city" of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Killeen is directly adjacent to the main cantonment of Fort Hood, and as such its economy heavily depends on the post and the soldiers (and their families) stationed there.

Luby's massacre
The Luby's massacre was a mass murder that took place on October 16, 1991, in Killeen, Texas, United States when George Hennard (born October 15, 1956) crashed his pickup truck through the front window of a Luby's cafeteria, shot 50 people (killing 23), exchanged shots with responding police, and then hid in a bathroom and fatally shot himself. It was the deadliest shooting rampage in American history until the 2007 Virginia Tech massacre.
