Hunt County, Texas

Hunt County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 86,129. Its seat is Greenville. Hunt County is named for Memucan Hunt, Jr. , the first Republic of Texas Minister to United States from 1837 to 1838 and the third Texas Secretary of the Navy from 1838 to 1839. The county is part of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Hunt County's most famous resident was Audie Murphy, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor and most decorated U.S. serviceman.

Greenville, Texas

Greenville is a North Texas city, located in central Hunt County approximatly 45 miles from Dallas, and is the county seat, and largest city, of Hunt County, Texas. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 25,557, however growth to the unincoporated areas, especially to the west and south of the city put the population at roughly 30,000 residents. Greenville was named for Thomas J. Green, a general in the Texas Army during the war for independence from Mexico.
