The Darrington Unit (DA) is a Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) men's prison located in unincorporated Brazoria County, Texas, near Sandy Point, The unit is along Farm to Market Road 521, 4 miles north of Rosharon, and south of Houston. The prison has about 6,770 acres of land. The prison has the Region III Administrative Office of the Windham School District.

Iowa Colony, Texas

Iowa Colony is a village in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. Iowa Colony is on State Highway 288 south of Manvel in northern Brazoria County. It was founded in 1908 by the Immigration Land Company of Des Moines, Iowa, and received its name from Iowans G. I. Hoffmann and Robert Beard. The community received a post office in 1919, and rice farming was introduced there in 1920.
