Wilson County, Texas

Wilson County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 42,918. Its county seat is Floresville. The county is named after James Charles Wilson. The Connallys -- John Connally, a Texas governor and U.S. Secretary of the Navy and U.S. Treasury Secretary; Wayne Connally, a member of both houses of the Texas State Legislature, and Merrill Connally, an actor and a county judge—were all born and reared in Wilson County.

Falls City, Texas

Falls City, a mile southeast of the Wilson county line and seven miles northwest of Karnes City in northern Karnes County, owes its development to the railroad. Two earlier communities, Marcelina and Home Valley, had been located in the vicinity in the 1850s and 1860s, but people were not induced to settle the area until 1886, when the San Antonio and Aransas Pass Railway built a switch and depot called Brackenridge, named after railroad benefactor George Washington Brackenridge.
