Edward L. Blackshear Field

Blackshear Field is a 6,000-seat multi-purpose stadium in Prairie View, Texas, United States. It is home to the Prairie View A&M University Panthers college football team. The facility opened in 1960. Edward L. Blackshear served as principal of the school, then known as Prairie View State Normal and Industrial College, from 1897 to 1915.

Prairie View A&M University

Prairie View A&M University is a historically black university (HBCU) located in Prairie View, Texas, United States and is a member of the Texas A&M University System. PVAMU offers baccalaureate degrees in 50 academic majors, 37 master’s degrees and four doctoral degree programs through nine colleges and schools. PVAMU is one of Texas' land grant universities. The University is a member-school of Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

KPVU

KPVU 91.3FM is a college radio station located on the campus of Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas, 25 miles northwest of Houston. The station's playlist mainly consists of jazz, but at other times it plays Urban AC-level R&B and Gospel as well. The signal is a rimshot over the northwestern portions of the Greater Houston area, fringing out over parts of the city. Veteran broadcaster Ed Shannon was the first station manager at KPVU-FM.
