Sand Ridge, Houston County, Texas

Sand Ridge is an unincorporated community in Houston County, Texas, United States. It is located on Texas-21 about 20 miles from Crockett. It is unknown when it was settled, but it is believed it was before 1900. In the 1930s it had a school, several businesses, and some houses. However, by 1990 it became a dispersed community. Any residents who live there are within the Lovelady ISD.

Mapleton, Texas

Mapleton is an unincorporated community in Houston County, Texas. Mapleton is located on Texas State Highway 21 18 miles southwest of Crockett. The community was founded around 1924 by T.J. Maples and his family. It was originally known as Stumpville due to the many tree stumps in the area; the Maples family changed the name to Mapleton in the 1950s. As of 2000, its population was 32.

Creek, Texas

Creek, also known as Georgia Camp, is an unincorporated community in Houston County, Texas. Creek is located on Farm to Market Road 1280 15 miles southwest of Crockett. The community was founded after the Civil War, and by the 1880s it had a school and a post office. At its peak in the 1890s, the community had a population of 150 and many businesses; by the 1990s, its population was scattered and it had only retained its church and cemetery.

Austonio, Texas

Austonio is an unincorporated area, formerly a city, in Houston County, Texas, USA. The community, originally named Pearville, was established before 1900. In 1930 the community sponsored a contest, asking participants to select a new name for the community. Ruth Tucker submitted the name "Austonio", a combination of Austin and San Antonio; the name was chosen as the community's new name. Austonio has an estimated population of about 40.

Ash, Texas

Ash is an unincorporated community in Houston County, Texas. Ash is located 16 miles southwest of Crockett at the western terminus of FM 1280. The community was established in 1870 and named for community leader James B. Ash. Ash had a post office from 1890 to 1909. By 2000, its population was 19.
