Steinhagen Reservoir

B A Steinhagen Reservoir is located near the town of Jasper, Texas in the east Texas Piney Woods at 30.85 North Latitude and 94.19 West Longitude. The borders of Tyler County and Jasper County are defined by the bed of the Neches River, and therefore bisect the lake on a North/South line. The lake was created as part of a project that focused on creating lakes for recreation, power generation, and water conservation on the Neches River and the Angelina River.

Zavala, Texas

Zavala, Texas, was a town in Jasper County, Texas from 1834 until the late 19th century. Named for empresario Lorenzo de Zavala, the town was founded on land owned by Thomas Huling along the Angelina River. The approximately 40 families who lived in the town survived by farming or logging. The town last appears on a list of communities in the county in 1878 and has since been abandoned.

Jasper County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2010 census, its population was 35,710. Its county seat is Jasper. Jasper County is named for William Jasper, an American Revolutionary War hero. Jasper County is represented in the Texas House of Representatives by the conservative Republican Wayne Christian, a financial analyst from Center in Shelby County.

Sam Rayburn Reservoir

Sam Rayburn Reservoir is a reservoir in the United States located in Southeast Texas, 70 mi north of Beaumont. The reservoir is fed by the Angelina River, the major tributary of the Neches River. The capacity of the reservoir is 3,997,600 acre feet, and is the largest lake wholly located within the state of Texas. The reservoir is operated by the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth district.
