Lake Marble Falls

Lake Marble Falls is a reservoir on the Colorado River in the Texas Hill Country in the United States. The reservoir was formed in 1951 by the construction of Max Starcke Dam by the Lower Colorado River Authority. Originally named Marble Falls Dam, the dam was renamed in 1962 for Max Starcke, the second general director of the LCRA. Located near the town of Marble Falls, the lake is used as a venue for aquatic recreation and for the purpose of generating hydroelectric power.

Max Starcke Dam

Max Starcke Dam is a dam in the U.S. state of Texas. Named for Max Starcke, the second General Manager of the Lower Colorado River Authority, Starcke Dam forms Lake Marble Falls, one of the Texas Highland Lakes. The dam was constructed in 1949-1951 in order to provide hydroelectric power and is located near Marble Falls, Texas.

Hamilton Pool Preserve

Hamilton Pool Preserve is a natural pool that was created when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion thousands of years ago. The pool is located about 23 miles (37 km) west of Austin, Texas off Highway 71. Since the 1960s, Hamilton Pool has been a favorite summer swimming spot for Austin visitors and residents. Hamilton Pool Preserve consists of 232 acres of protected natural habitat featuring a jade green pool into which a 50-foot waterfall flows.
