Granite Mountain (Texas)

Granite Mountain is a solid dome of pink granite (pink granite is also known as Sunset Red) rising over 860 feet one mile west of Marble Falls, Texas. Since quarry operations began in the late 19th century, the distinctive pink-red colored rock has been used in the construction of the Texas State Capitol in Austin, Texas, and also for the construction of the Galveston Seawall.

Burnet Municipal Airport, also known as Kate Craddock Field, is a city-owned public-use airport located one nautical mile (1.85 km) southwest of the central business district of Burnet, a city in Burnet County, Texas, United States. Although most U.S. airports use the same three-letter location identifier for the FAA and IATA, this airport is assigned BMQ by the FAA but has no designation from the IATA.

Marble Falls, Texas

Marble Falls is a city in Burnet County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 6,077. It is about 45 miles northwest of Austin and 85 miles north of San Antonio. Lake Marble Falls is part of the Highland Lakes, the largest chain of lakes in Texas. It hosts one of the largest drag boat races in the United States each August.

Fort Croghan

For the 1842 Iowa fort of the same name, see Council Bluffs, Iowa. Fort Croghan was the third of the first four forts established by the United States government to protect settlers from hostile Indians along the Texas frontier. From its establishment in 1849 until its decommission in 1853, Fort Croghan was home to Company C, 8th Infantry, U.S.A. (mounted) and eventually became the headquarters of the Second Dragoon Regiment.
