Weimar, Texas

Weimar is a city in Colorado County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,181 at the 2010 census. In 1873 the town was founded as Jackson, but subsequently called Weimar in tribute to the German city of Weimar. Located on Interstate 10 and US 90 between San Antonio, Austin, and Houston, Weimar is a small community of predominately Czech and German descendants. Weimar is famous for Kasper's sausage, which draws a crowd every Saturday to Kasper's Meat Market in downtown Weimar.

Dubina, Texas

Dubina is a small unincorporated community in Fayette County, Texas, United States. It currently is home to a population of about 44 persons, but it was once a thriving community. It was the first Czech settlement in Texas and dates from 1856. It's located 90 miles West of Houston or 104 miles East of San Antonio. The naming of this settlement as Dubina ("oak grove") goes back to one of the first nights spent by the settlers.

Borden, Texas

Borden is an unincorporated area in southwestern Colorado County, Texas, located four miles northeast of Weimar. The community was known as Harvey's Creek Settlement before the U.S. Civil War. After the war ended Gail Borden returned to Texas and, at what would become Borden, built houses for himself, his brother, and his sons. He renamed the settlement Bordenville. The Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway opened its line through the Borden area in 1872.

Oakland, Colorado County, Texas

Oakland is an unincorporated community in Colorado County, Texas, United States. According to the Handbook of Texas, the community had an estimated population of 80 in 2000. It is located southwest of the junction of Farm Roads 532 and 2144, approximately eight miles south of Weimar. Although it is unincorporated, Oakland has a post office, with the ZIP code of 78951. Public education in the community is provided by the Weimar Independent School District.
