Elk, Washington

Elk is an unincorporated rural community in northern Spokane County, Washington, United States. It was once incorporated, prior to reverting to the County. It contains an elementary school that has been renovated and is now a residence, two churches, a VFW hall, a post office, two cemeteries, the Elk Sentinel newspaper office, the Boondocks Store,a volunteer fire station, a beautiful community park on the Little Spokane River and about 3,000 residences.

Sravasti Abbey

Sravasti Abbey is a Buddhist monastery in the Tibetan tradition established in October 2003 by Bhikshuni Thubten Chodron. Situated on 240 acres of forest and meadows; it is 11 miles outside of Newport, Washington, near the Idaho state line. Sravasti Abbey is a training monastery and is open to visitors who want to learn about community life in a Tibetan Buddhist monastic setting.

Milan, Washington

Milan is an unincorporated community in Spokane County, Washington, United States. Milan is a rural community located along the Burlington Northern Railroad, east of Deer Park. It is named after the Italian city of Milan. In 1900 Milan was an important shipping point on the Great Northern Railway. There were two sawmills in the community, and two more within a couple of miles, which supplied lumber to the city of Spokane. James Conalton was Milan's postmaster and storekeeper at the time.

567th Strategic Missile Squadron

The 567th Strategic Missile Squadron is an inactive United States Air Force unit. It was last assigned to the 92d Strategic Aerospace Wing, stationed at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. It was inactivated on 25 June 1965.

Mount Kit Carson

Mount Kit Carson (elevation 5,249 feet / 1,600 metres) is a mountain located northeast of Spokane, Washington. Its summit is surrounded by Mount Spokane State Park, the largest of Washington's State Parks at 13,919 acres (56.33 km2). On September 10, 1962, a KC-135 was descending in for a landing at Fairchild Air Force Base when it flew into a fog shrouded ravine on Mount Kit Carson. Forty-four people were killed in the accident. It was worst aviation accident in U.S.
