Elk, Washington

Elk is an unincorporated rural community in northern Spokane County, Washington, United States. It was once incorporated, prior to reverting to the County. It contains an elementary school that has been renovated and is now a residence, two churches, a VFW hall, a post office, two cemeteries, the Elk Sentinel newspaper office, the Boondocks Store,a volunteer fire station, a beautiful community park on the Little Spokane River and about 3,000 residences.

Oldtown, Idaho

Oldtown is a town in Bonner County, Idaho, with a population of 184 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Pend Oreille River, just east of Newport, Washington. There are no natural or physical barriers, and it is strictly a political division, separated by the straight-line state boundary. Oldtown is squeezed between this boundary to the west and the river to the east, leaving the main business district on U.S. Route 2 with only 700 feet (200 meters) of space in which to operate.
