Kittitas is a city in Kittitas County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,381 at the 2010 census. The population was 1,450 at 2012 Estimate from Office of Financial Management. There are numerous interpretations of the name, which is from the language of the Kittitas American Indian language. According to one source, it "has been said to mean everything from 'white chalk' to 'shale rock' to 'shoal people' to 'land of plenty'.

KCWU

KCWU (formerly KCAT), also known as 88.1 The 'Burg, is the college radio station for Central Washington University based out of Ellensburg, Washington. The history of The 'Burg starts back in 1958 when small broadcast facility, KCAT, started broadcasting on 880 AM. The 'Burg, now KCWU, has expanded its broadcast facility. It now broadcasts 430 watts effective radiated power at a frequency of 88.1 MHz.

Wild Horse Wind Farm

The Wild Horse Wind Farm is a 273-megawatt wind farm that generates energy for Puget Sound Energy that consists of one hundred forty-nine 1.8-megawatt Vestas V80 turbines on a 10,000-acre site in Kittitas County, Washington, 15 miles east of Ellensburg, Washington. The turbines are placed on the high open ridge tops of Whiskey Dick Mountain, which was chosen for its energetic wind resource, remote location, and access to nearby power transmission lines.
