Point Defiance Park

Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington is one of the largest urban parks in the United States. The 702-acre park includes Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, the Rose Garden, Rhododendron Garden, beaches, trails, a boardwalk, a boathouse, a Washington State Ferries ferry dock for the Point Defiance-Tahlequah route to Vashon Island, Fort Nisqually, an off-leash dog park, and most notably a stand of old-growth forest. Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium

The Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium (PDZA) is a combined zoo and aquarium located in Tacoma, Washington, US, owned by Metro Parks Tacoma. Situated on 29 acres in Tacoma's Point Defiance Park, the zoo and aquarium are home to over 9,000 specimens representing 367 animal species. The zoo was founded in 1905; the aquarium was founded in 1935 near Commencement Bay and relocated within the zoo in 1963. Both are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

Tacoma Narrows

The Tacoma Narrows (or The Narrows), a strait, is part of Puget Sound in the U.S. state of Washington. A navigable maritime waterway between glacial landforms, the Narrows separates the Kitsap Peninsula from the city of Tacoma. The Narrows is spanned by the twin Tacoma Narrows Bridges. An earlier bridge collapsed shortly after it opened. Some of the largest octopuses in the world, the Giant Pacific Octopus, live among the ruins of the original Tacoma Narrows Bridge.
