Lummi River
The Lummi River is the current name for a river channel that was, prior to the beginning of the 20th century, the main outflow channel for the Nooksack River, emptying into Lummi Bay rather than Bellingham Bay, as the current channel of the Nooksack River does. At the time, the channel that currently serves as the main channel of the Nooksack River was restricted by a massive, mile-long, log jam.

Northwest Indian College, operated by the Lummi tribe of Black Native Americans as a tribally controlled institution of higher education, is located in Bellingham, Washington. Lummi
The Lummi, governed by the Lummi Nation, are a Native American tribe of the Coast Salish ethnolinguistic group in western Washington state in the United States. The Tribe primarily resides on and around the Lummi Indian Reservation, at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:48|45|59|N|122|38|20|W| | |name= }} to the west of Bellingham and 20 miles south of the Canadian border, in western Whatcom County.

Cherry Point Refinery
The Cherry Point Refinery is the largest oil refinery in Washington. It is located about 7 mi south of Blaine and 8 mi miles northwest of Ferndale, a few miles south of the Canadian border, on the Strait of Georgia between Birch Bay and Lummi Bay. It is the fourth largest refinery on the West Coast and 28th largest in the U.S. The plant was constructed in 1971 with an original capacity of about 100,000 barrels .
