Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole, originally called Jackson's Hole, is a valley located in the U.S. state of Wyoming, near the western border with Idaho. The name "hole" derives from language used by early trappers or mountain men, who primarily entered the valley from the north and east and had to descend along relatively steep slopes, giving the sensation of entering a hole.

Gros Ventre River

The Gros Ventre River (pronounced GROW-VAUNT) is a 74.6-mile-long tributary of the Snake River in the state of Wyoming. It rises in the Gros Ventre Wilderness in western Wyoming, and joins the Snake River in the Jackson Hole valley. In 1925, the massive Gros Ventre landslide dammed the river and formed Lower Slide Lake. The natural dam collapsed in 1927, flooding the downstream town of Kelly, Wyoming.

Wilson, Wyoming

Wilson is a census-designated place (CDP) in Teton County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 1,482 at the 2010 census, up from 1,294 in 2000. It is part of the Jackson, WY–ID Micropolitan Statistical Area. Wilson was pioneered in 1889 by the author and former Pony Express rider Elijah Nicholas Wilson, and was later named in his honor. It sits at the base of Teton Pass, just northwest of Jackson, on State Highway 22.

Teton Village, Wyoming

Teton Village is a census-designated place (CDP) in Teton County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 330 at the 2010 census. The village surrounds the base of the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. It is accessed from nearby Jackson, Wyoming and the surrounding area via the Moose-Wilson Road (Wyoming highway 390). Teton Village is part of the Jackson, WY–ID Micropolitan Statistical Area.
