Artigas Department (Spanish: Departamento de Artigas) is the northernmost department of Uruguay, belonging to its northwestern region. It has an area of 11,928 km and a population of 73,378. Its capital is the city of Artigas. It borders Salto Department to its south, Brazil to its north and east and has the Río Uruguay flowing at its west, separating it from Argentina.
