Anzoátegui

Anzoátegui State, is one of the 23 component states of Venezuela, located in the northeastern region of the country. Anzoátegui is well known for its beautiful beaches that attract many visitors. Its coast consists of a single beach approximately 100 km long. Its capital is the city of Barcelona, and significant cities include Puerto la Cruz and El Tigre.

Barcelona Province (Venezuela)

Barcelona Province (1811 - 1864) was one of the provinces of Venezuela which signed the 1811 Venezuelan Declaration of Independence from the Spanish Empire. It become one of the provinces of Gran Colombia, until Venezuela's independence from Gran Colombia in 1830. During Gran Colombia the province was part of the Orinoco Department.

Estadio José Antonio Anzoátegui

The Estadio Olímpico General José Antonio Anzoátegui before called Estadio Luis Ramos, is a stadium located in the Venezuelan city of Puerto La Cruz, in the state of Anzoátegui. It was opened on December 8, 1965 by the former president of Venezuela, Raúl Leoni. The old stadium that occupied the area was demolished and construction for a new stadium started from scratch. A modern stadium was needed to be a venue for the Copa America 2007 soccer tournament.

Juan Antonio Sotillo Municipality

The Juan Antonio Sotillo Municipality is one of the 21 municipalities that makes up the eastern Venezuelan state of Anzoátegui and, according to a 2007 population estimate by the National Institute of Statistics of Venezuela, the municipality has a population of 247,979. The town of Puerto La Cruz is the shire town of the Juan Antonio Sotillo Municipality. The municipality is named for the nineteenth century Venezuelan military leader Juan Antonio Sotillo.
