Hassan I Airport

Hassan I Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto de El Aaiún, French: Aéroport de Laâyoune) is an airport serving El Aaiún, the capital city of Western Sahara. The airport is named for Hassan I of Morocco. It is operated by the Moroccan state-owned company ONDA. Due to the particular political situation of Western Sahara, this airport appears in the Moroccan AIP as GMML and in the Spanish AIP as GSAI.

Saguia el-Hamra

Saguia el-Hamra, is, with Río de Oro, one of the two territories that formed the Spanish province of Spanish Sahara after 1969. Its name comes from a waterway that goes through the capital. Occupying the northern part of Western Sahara, it lies between the 26th parallel north and 27°50'N. The city of Cape Bojador serves to divide the regions. Its capital is El Aaiún (Laâyoune), and it also includes the city of Smara.

Laâyoune Province

Laâyoune is a province in the Moroccan economic region of Laâyoune-Boujdour-Sakia El Hamra, which includes the southwestern part of the territory of Morocco as of before 1975, and the northern part of the disputed territory of Western Sahara. Its population in 2004 is 210,023. Its main town is Laâyoune. In the north of the province, Khenifiss National Park is located.
