2007 Gumball 3000 accident

The Gumball 3000 Rally of 2007 ended early as the result a traffic accident on May 2, 2007, in which two people were killed. The accident involved the TechArt Porsche 997 Turbo of Nick Morley and Matthew McConville and the Volkswagen Golf of Vladislav and Margarita Cepunjovski. The accident resulted in the immediate death of Mr. Cepunjovski, while his wife died two days later as a result of the injuries from the crash.

Shebenik

Shebenik is a large mountain located in the Shebenik-Jabllanice National Park in eastern Albania. Shebenik has many peaks over 2,000 m . The highest is Maja e Shebenikut at 2,253 m above sea level. It is found in the north-east of Shebenik. Around this peak are a number of small and large mountain lakes. Shebenik mountain is located west of Jablanica Mountain and northwest of Lake Ohrid.

Municipality of Struga (Macedonian: Општина Струга; Opština Struga, Albanian: Komuna e Strugës) is a municipality in western Republic of Macedonia. Struga is also the name of the town where the municipal seat is found. Struga Municipality is part of the Southwestern Statistical Region.

2009 Lake Ohrid boat accident

On 5 September 2009, the Ilinden sightseeing boat with a group of 57 foreign tourists on board, of which 55 were Bulgarian, sank in Lake Ohrid, southwestern Republic of Macedonia. 15 lives were lost. The sinking of the Ilinden was the deadliest boat accident in the history of the Republic of Macedonia. Lake Ohrid is the deepest lake in the Balkans, with maximum depth of 288 metres . The Ilinden boat was taking tourists to the Saint Naum Monastery.
