Shirak Airport

Shirak International Airport is an international airport serving Gyumri and the province of Shirak, Armenia. It is located about 5 km from the center of Gyumri. The airport was inaugurated in 1961, and is the second largest airport in the country, after Yerevan's Zvartnots International Airport. Gyumri is the second largest city in Armenia and the capital of the Shirak Province in the northwestern part of the country. It is located around 126 km north of the capital Yerevan. As of the 2009 official estimate, the city had a population of 146,400, down from 150,917 reported at the 2001 official census. The name of the city has been changed several times throughout the history.
