Cobaw, Victoria

Cobaw is a locality in the Macedon Ranges Shire, in Victoria, situated on Dry Creek. The Cobaw area formerly had its own Post Office and State school, now closed. Cobaw Post Office opened on 1 December 1887 and closed in 1952. The Cobaw Range is a section of the Great Dividing Range north of the settlement, running roughly east-west. The ranges are mainly granitic and reach a maximum height of 760m. Most of the western parts of this range are within the boundaries of the Cobaw State Forest.

Baynton, Victoria

Baynton is a small rural community in central Victoria, Australia. Baynton is approximately 20 km north-east of Kyneton, and 20 km north-west of Lancefield. Baynton's elevation varies from 450 to 650 metres (1,475–2,130 ft) above sea level, and rainfall averages 675 millimetres per annum. Agriculturally the region produces wool, lamb, beef and wine. Baynton is home to several wineries, and tourism has become an important component of the region's economy.

Mount William stone axe quarry

The Mount William stone axe quarry is a prehistoric aboriginal site located 9 km northeast of Lancefield, off Powells Track, 10 km north of Romsey and 78 km from Melbourne, Australia, in Central Victoria. Known as Wil-im-ee Moor-ring, meaning 'axe place' in the Woiwurrung language, the greenstone quarry was an important source of raw material for the manufacture of greenstone ground-edge axes, which were traded over a wide area of south-east Australia.
