Venus Bay, Victoria

Venus Bay is a wide bay and a township on that bay on the east coast of Victoria, Australia. At the 2006 census Venus Bay had a population of 509. The name Venus Bay was given to the bay by a French expedition under Nicholas Baudin. This was apparently after George Bass's trading ship the Venus. (The expedition traded with Bass in Sydney in around 1801. ) The town of Venus Bay is situated on a narrow peninsula of land located 180 km south-east of Melbourne.

Anderson Inlet

Anderson Inlet is a shallow and dynamic estuary in South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia where the Tarwin River enters Bass Strait. It forms a 2,400 ha almost enclosed bay next to the town of Inverloch, for which it provides a popular and protected beach. At low tide its intertidal mudflats provide important feeding habitat for migratory waders. It is also an important area for recreational fishing. It is named after the Anderson brothers, the first Europeans to settle in the area.

Bald Hills Wind Farm

The Bald Hills Wind Farm is a proposed wind farm located approximately 10 km south east of Tarwin Lower in South Gippsland. The Bald Hills Wind Farm site covers approximately 1750ha of largely cleared cattle and sheep grazing farmland. The turbines will be located in three distinct areas, one to the west and one to the east of Tarwin Lower Waratah Road, and one near the end of Bald Hills Road.

Inverloch, Victoria

Inverloch is a seaside village in Victoria, Australia. It is located on the Bass Highway 143 kilometres southeast of Melbourne, at the mouth of Anderson Inlet, in the Bass Coast Shire and is located close to Australia’s southernmost stand of mangroves. At the 2006 census, Inverloch had a population of 4,140.
