Venus of Willendorf

The Venus of Willendorf, now known in academia as the Woman of Willendorf, is an 11 cm high statuette of a female figure estimated to have been made between 24,000 and 22,000 BCE. It was found in 1908 by a workman named Johann Veran or Josef Veram during excavations conducted by archaeologists Josef Szombathy, Hugo Obermaier and Josef Bayer at a paleolithic site near Willendorf, a village in Lower Austria near the city of Krems.

Sendeturm Jauerling

The Sendeturm Jauerling is a tower for directional radio services, FM and TV broadcasting on the Jauerling mountain in Austria. Sendeturm Jauerling was built in 1958. It consists of a 35 metre high free-standing steel framework tower, which carries a guyed steel tube mast on the top and has a total height of 141 metres.

Aggsbach Charterhouse

Aggsbach Charterhouse is a former Carthusian monastery in Aggsbach Dorf in Schönbühel-Aggsbach in Lower Austria. The monastery was founded in 1380 by Heidenreich von Maissau. It was dissolved in 1782 in the reforms of Emperor Joseph II. The premises were mostly converted for use as a castle, except for a few portions which were incorporated into the parish priest's farm. The monks' cells and the cloister were demolished.

Gansbach

Gansbach is a small town and centre of the municipality of Dunkelsteinerwald in Melk District, Lower Austria in northeastern Austria. It lies several kilometres inland from the Danube. To the west and north of the settlement is the Wachau valley. The parish church probably originates from the 14th century. The side altar piece of the famous painter Kremser Schmidt and the high altarpiece, which was painted by one of his students are of note.
