Valozhyn, Vałožyn or Volozhin is a town in the Minsk Province of Belarus. The population is 11,500 (1995). Ivyanets is a township in the Valozhyn Raion of the Minsk Voblast, Belarus. It is located in a hilly and woody area on the river Volma. It has been known since the end of the 15th century as a privately owned settlement of the Sollohub family. Originally known as Givenech, presumably derived from Lithuanian gyventi – "to live".
