Sarajevo Canton

The Sarajevo Canton, officially the Canton of Sarajevo is the ninth of 10 cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its cantonal capital is Sarajevo, also the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Canton can basically be considered the metro area of the country's capital city, Sarajevo. It contains 98% of the city's population, but a much smaller percentage of the official land area. The majority of the population is Bosniak.

Sarajevo Tunnel

Between between May 1992 and November 1996, during the Siege of Sarajevo and in the midst of the Bosnian War the Sarajevo Tunnel was constructed by the Bosnian Army in order to link the city of Sarajevo, which was entirely cut-off by Serbian forces, with the Bosnian-held territory on the other side of the Sarajevo Airport, an area controlled by the United Nations.
