2011 Sliven hostage crisis

The 2011 Sliven hostage crisis was a hostage crisis after a bank robbery attempt in a branch of Investbank in Sliven, Bulgaria between 23 and 25 March 2011. The crisis started after 27-years old Stefan Petrov invaded in the bank around 4 pm on 23 March. He shot 42-years old Stancho Stanev, the bank guard, and took six bank employees hostages. Soon after the Bulgarian Special Forces intervened and some police psychologists started negotiations with the captor.

Sliven

Sliven is the eighth-largest city in Bulgaria and the administrative and industrial centre of Sliven Province and municipality. Sliven is famous for its Bulgarian Haiduts who fought against the Ottoman Turks in the 19th century and is known as the "City of the 100 Voyvodi", a Voyvoda being a leader of Haiduts.

Hadzhi Dimitar Stadium

Hadzhi Dimitar Stadium (Bulgarian: Стадион „Хаджи Димитър“) is a multi-purpose stadium in Sliven, Bulgaria. It is currently used for football matches and is the home ground of OFC Sliven 2000. The stadium holds 10,000 people. The stadium is a part of a big multifunctional sport complex, which includes a swimming pool, tennis courts, 2 training pitches and a 4-star hotel. The athletic track of the stadium meets all of the IAAF requirements to host international competitions.
