Siege of Vidin (1913)

The Siege of Vidin refers to an attempt by the Serbian Army to seize the Bulgarian city of Vidin during the Second Balkan War. The siege took place between the 12th and 18 July 1913.

Novo Selo, Vidin Province

Novo Selo (Bulgarian: Ново село, "new village") is a village in northwesternmost Bulgaria, part of Vidin Province. It lies on the right (south) bank of the Danube and is the administrative centre of a municipality with the same name. As of September 2005 Novo Selo has a population of 1,217 and the mayor is Georgi Stoenelov. It lies at {{#invoke:Coordinates|coord}}{{#coordinates:44|10|N|22|47|E||| | |name= }}, 45 m above sea level.

Baba Vida

Baba Vida is a medieval fortress in Vidin in northwestern Bulgaria and the town's primary landmark. It consists of two fundamental walls and four towers and is said to be the only entirely preserved medieval castle in the country. The construction of the fortress began in the 10th century at the place of an Ancient Roman watchtower. The building of Baba Vida is tied to a legend, according to which a Danubian Bulgarian king who ruled at Vidin had three daughters: Vida, Kula and Gamza.
