It was founded in 1876 as a Mennonite community with settlers who came from the Bergthal Colony in Russia. Rural Municipality of Rhineland

Rhineland is a rural municipality in the province of Manitoba in Western Canada. It is located in the southern part of the province, along its border with the state of North Dakota in the United States. A population of 4,125 persons was reported in the 2006 Census, a slight decrease from the 4,183 reported in the 2001 Census. The towns of Altona, Gretna, and Plum Coulee are all located geographically within the municipality, although they are all administratively separate entities.

Mennonite Collegiate Institute

Mennonite Collegiate Institute (MCI) is a private high school located in Gretna, Manitoba. Neche, North Dakota

Neche is a city in Pembina County, North Dakota in the United States. It sits on the banks of the Pembina River. The population was 371 at the 2010 census. Neche was founded in 1882. The name is said to come from the Ojibwe word nidji, which means friend, neighbor, or one like myself.
