HMS Nancy (1789)

HM Schooner Nancy was a schooner, built in Detroit in 1789. She served for several years in the fur trade on the Great Lakes, but is best known for playing a part in the Anglo-American War of 1812, serving as a vital supply ship for the British. Blocked in by an American fleet near the mouth of the Nottawasaga River, she was set on fire on 14 August 1814 to prevent the capture of the ship and the cargo she carried.

Edenvale, Ontario

The former Village of Edenvale is a ghost town in the Province of Ontario, Canada. It was located on Ontario Highway 26 in Springwater Township, along the Nottawasaga River, in Simcoe County. At present, Edenvale is simply a small blue sign along Highway 26 between Barrie and Stayner.

It was created in 1996 from parts of Barrie—Simcoe—Bradford, Bruce—Grey, Simcoe Centre, Simcoe North, Wellington—Grey—Dufferin—Simcoe and York—Simcoe. It had a population of 117,505 in 2001, and an area of 2,515 km².
