It is best known for its biennial carnival, officially called the Carnival of Riosucio but commonly known by its former name of the "Carnival of the Devil", and is one of the biggest and most popular carnivals in Colombia.

Guatica

Guatica is a town and municipality in the Risaralda Department of Colombia, at approximately 1530m above sea level. Founded in 1537 by Don Ruy de Vanegas, a lieutenant of Sebastian de Belalcazar and by the priest Esteban de Guevara. The town's name derives from Cacique Guática, supreme ruler of the Santa Maria Valley.

Marmato, Caldas

Marmato is a town and municipality in the Colombian Department of Caldas. Founded in 1540, Marmato has a population of 10,000 people. It is one of the historic gold-mining regions of the hemisphere. The town used to be the home of a large population of Cornish miners, who were drawn to this location from their native land to work the mines.
