La Vieja River
La Vieja River (Spanish: Río La Vieja) is a river in the Colombian departments of Quindío, Valle del Cauca and Risaralda. It is a major tributary of the Cauca River. The river is formed by the joining of the Quindío River and the Barragán River in an area known as the Valle de Maravelez. It has a length of 102 km and flows in a northwesterly direction, meeting the Cauca River approximately 7 km north of Cartago. Major tributaries include the Roble, Consota, Barbas, Espejo and Pijao rivers.

Córdoba is a municipality in the eastern part of the department of Quindío, Colombia. It is located 24 km southeast of the departmental capital Armenia. Córdoba is bounded to the north by the municipality of Calarcá, to the south by Pijao, to the west by Buenavista, and to the east by the department of Tolima. Córdoba was founded in 1927 by Jesús García and Jesús Buitrago, and became a municipality in 1966 when it split from Calarcá.

The 1999 Coffee Axis, Colombia earthquake was an earthquake that heavily affected the city of Armenia, Colombia in the Quindío department, 18 towns and 28 villages in the Colombian Coffee-Growers Axis region departments, and to a lesser degree, the cities of Pereira and Manizales. The earthquake occurred on Monday, 25 January 1999 13:19 and had a magnitude of 6.2. The epicenter was 25 miles (40 km) west south west of Ibagué, Colombia.
