Sutorina

Sutorina is a Montenegrin village, part of the Herceg Novi municipality. According to the 2003 census, it has 607 inhabitants. In the 1991 census, 489 inhabitants were recorded. The village, along with its surrounding territory, including a short stretch of the Adriatic coast was named after the little vale of the river Sutorina west of Herceg Novi. Since the breakup of Yugoslavia, the territory is part of Montenegro.

Siege of Castelnuovo

The Siege of Castelnuovo was an engagement during the Ottoman-Habsburg struggle for control of the Mediterranean, which took place in July 1539 in the walled town of Castelnuovo, present day Herceg Novi, Montenegro. Castelnuovo had been conquered by elements of various Spanish tercios the year before during the failed campaign of the Holy League against the Ottoman Empire in Eastern Mediterranean waters.

United Nations Mission of Observers in Prevlaka

UN Mission of Observers in Prevlaka (UNMOP) was established on 15 January 1996 in Security Council Resolution 1038 as a peacekeeping mission to monitor the demilitarization of the disputed Prevlaka peninsula by carrying out daily foot and vehicle patrols on both sides of the border between Croatia and Montenegro (then part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia).
