Miljevci plateau incident

The Miljevci plateau incident took place on Sunday, June 21, 1992 during the Croatian War of Independence. It was a surprise attack by units of the Croatian army against separatist Serb Krajina Territorial Defense positions in the area of the Miljevci Plateau, located in the Dalmatian hinterland near Drniš, and succeeded in regaining control over some 90 km of Croatian territory.

Otavice, Croatia

Otavice is a small village in Dalmatian hinterland in Croatia, located on edge of Petrovo field, approximately 35 km away from the city of Šibenik. The village has 181 permanent inhabitants (2011 census). Houses in Otavice are built mostly of concrete, and some of stone. Before its present location, the village Otavice was located on the nearby Svilaja mountain, spread in several groups of houses and barns, named after the family names of the people who lived there.

Visovac Monastery

The Visovac Monastery is a Catholic monastery on the island of Visovac in the Krka National Park, Croatia. Visovac was settled by Augustinian monks, who established a small monastery and church dedicated to the Apostle Paul in the 14th century. In 1445 the Augustinian monastery was enlarged and adapted by the Franciscans who settled here having withdrawn from parts of Bosnia with other, ordinary people, when the Turks had taken over there. A new monastery was built in the 18th century.
