Omodos

Omodos is a village in the Troödos Mountains of Cyprus. It is also located in the Limassol District of Cyprus and is 80 kilometers from the city of Nicosia. The village produces a lot of wine and holds a wine festival every August. You can visit a 17th Century stone built monastery via a cobblestone path and sample local wine for free at many outlets. You will also find a good mix of restaurants including traditional tavernas and a few modern bars housed in traditional buildings.

Trooditissa Monastery

Trooditissa Monastery, (Μοναστήρι Τροοδίτισσας) is situated on the southern slopes of the Troödos Mountains on the island of Cyprus. It is an orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was founded in 990, but the current building dates back to 1731. It is built at an altitude of 1,500m (4566 feet) and the closest village is Plátres.

Troodos Mountains

Troodos (Greek: Τρόοδος is the largest mountain range of Cyprus, located in the center of the island. Troodos' highest peak is Mount Olympus at 1,952 meters which also hosts 4 ski slopes. The Troodos mountain range stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus. There are many famous mountain resorts, Byzantine monasteries and churches on mountain peaks, and nestling in its valleys and picturesque mountains are villages clinging to terraced hill slopes.

Marathasa Valley

Marathassa Valley is a beautiful and fertile valley in the Troödos Mountains of Cyprus. It takes its name from the plant Marathos, a type of fennel which grows in the area. The area is known for its splendid cherries. The valley is about a 65 km drive from Limassol. It is to the north of Mount Olympus and it extends into the administrative territory of both Nicosia and Limassol district.

Avdimou

Avdimou is a small village on the south coast of Cyprus, lying partly within the British Overseas Territory of Akrotiri and Dhekelia. Up to 1974 it was inhabited by a majority of Turkish-Cypriots, however, following the Turkish invasion the Turkish Cypriot residents were forcibly evacuated to the North. Greek Cypriot refugees from the North replaced the Turkish residents. Historically agriculture was the main source of income for the village (namely the local vine, olive and carob plantations).
