Paphos District

Paphos District is one of the six districts of Cyprus and it is situated in the western part of Cyprus. Its main town and capital is Paphos. The entire district is controlled by the internationally recognized government of Cyprus. There are four municipalities in Paphos District: Paphos, Yeroskipou, Peyia, and Polis Chrysochous. The area of the district is 1,393 km. ², which constitutes the 15.1% of the total area of the island, and the population in 2011 was 88,266.

Nata, Paphos

Nata is a small village in the Paphos area of southwest Cyprus. It is a small relatively unspoilt traditional village situated on the south-eastern hillside of the Xeros River Valley with approximately 300 residents that is slowly growing due to the number of foreigners wanting to live there. The valley is green in winter but brown in summer.

Panagia tou Sinti Monastery

Panagia tou Sinti Monastery is an orthodox monastery near the village of Pentalia in the Paphos district of Cyprus. It is dedicated to the Virgin Mary. It was founded in the 16th century. In 1997 it received an Europa Nostra award for its restoration and conservation.

Stroumbi

Stroumbi is a small village in the heart of Paphos District and exactly in the middle of the distance between Paphos and Polis. The name of the village is said to be coming from its founder, a man called "Stroumpos" or by the view of the mountains around the village (stroumpoula - rounded). The village is well known for the annual "Dionysia" wine festival taking place at the end of August, named after Dionysos the ancient Greek god of wine..

Chrysoroyiatissa Monastery

Chrysoroyiatissa is a monastery dedicated to Our Lady of the Golden Pomegranate located about 40 km north-east of Paphos at an altitude of around 2,700 feet. It was founded by a monk called Ignatius (Ιγνάτιος) in the 12th century. It lies 1.5 km from the today village of Panayia, birthplace of the late Archbishop Makarios. The present building dates to 1770. Celebrations are held yearly on 15 August in honour of the Virgin Mary.
