Hrubá Skála

Hrubá Skála is a village and municipality in Semily District of the Liberec Region in the Czech Republic. It is located about 6 km southeast of Turnov within the Bohemian Paradise landscape area. The municipality also comprises the villages of Bohuslav, Borek, Doubravice, Hnanice, Krčkovice, Rokytnice and Želejov. Hrubá Skála Castle situated on a steep sandstone cliff was first mentioned in a 1353 deed, then a possession of the Waldstein (Wallenstein) dynasty.

Valdštejn Castle

Valdštejn Castle is an early Gothic fortress near Turnov, in the Czech Republic. It can be found in the cliff dwelling city of Hruboskalsko, in the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj). The city was built on three sandstone cliffs in the second half of the thirteenth century by Counts of the Waldstein family. After 1420 the castle was occupied by the Hussites, then later by the Robber Barons.

Trosky Castle

Trosky Castle is a castle ruin located some 10 km south of Semily, Liberec Region, Czech Republic. It is one of the most famous Czech castles and is situated on the summits of two basalt volcanic plugs. On the lower peak (47 m) is the two-storey structure called Baba (Old Woman), and on the higher outcrop (57 m) is the four-sided structure known as Panna (Virgin). The castle is a landmark in the countryside known as Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise).

Bohemian Paradise

Bohemian Paradise is a Protected Area. It was declared in 1955 as the first nature reserve in the Czech Republic. At first it was 95 square kilometres in area; today it is almost 182. This area is in the north of Bohemia and north-eastward from the capital city Prague. Borders of this district are not given, but there are some towns which could demarcate rough borders, for example, Turnov, Jičín and Mnichovo Hradiště. This piece of land is popular thanks to a beautiful and varied countryside.
