Nordsjællands Veterantog

Nordsjællands Veterantog (NSJV) was founded as Helsingør Jernbaneklub in 1958 as a model railway club in Helsingør, Denmark. The club had its ups and downs in the early years, but the big turning point was when it was decided to try and work with scale 1:1. In 1968, the first service was operated and soon the club had turned into a heritage railway rather than a model railway club. Acitivies soon grew and kept doing so steadily over the years.

Søborg Castle

Søborg Castle, in its heyday, was the strongest castle in Denmark, and was also used as a prison (Jens Grand was imprisoned here in the 13th century). It was inhabited until the Count's Feud in 1535, when it is speculated that it was destroyed. In 1577, the feudal tenant was granted permission to use the ruins as a quarry.

Gilleleje

Gilleleje is one of the main towns of the Gribskov municipality in Region Hovedstaden in Denmark. The town is at the northernmost point of Sjælland in Denmark. As of 1 January 2011, it has a population of 6,491.

Gribskov Municipality

Gribskov Kommune is a municipality in Region Hovedstaden ("Capital Region"). The municipality covers an area of 278 km², and has a total population of 40,512 (2008). The municipality was created on 1 January 2007 as a merger of former municipalities of Græsted-Gilleleje and Helsinge. Its mayor as of 2010 is Jan Ferdinandsen, a member of the Conservative People's Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti) political party.

Hornbækbanen

Hornbækbanen is a local passenger railway north of Copenhagen in Denmark, part of the Lokalbanen system. It runs along the coast of Øresund between Helsingør and Gilleleje, through an area with many holiday homes. The name Hornbækbanen refers to the town Hornbæk about halfway between Helsingør and Gilleleje. The length of the railway is 25 km. Hornbækbanen operates a fairly intensive timetable with light DMUs working a fixed 30-minute frequency most of the day.
