Fredensborg

Fredensborg is a railway town with a population of 8,377 (1 January 2011) located in Fredensborg Municipality, Denmark at the railroad between Hillerød and Helsingør. Fredensborg Palace is located in Fredensborg which is the Danish Royal Family's spring and autumm residence. Queen Ingrid of Denmark died there.

Fredensborg Municipality

Fredensborg Kommune is a municipality in Region Hovedstaden (Capital Region). The municipality covers an area of 112 km, and has a total population of 39,240 (2008). Its mayor, since 2010, is Thomas Lykke Pedersen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The municipality was created on 1 January 2007, in a merger of the former municipalities of Karlebo Kommune and Fredensborg-Humlebæk Kommune.

Fredensborg-Humlebæk Municipality

Until January 1, 2007, Fredensborg-Humlebæk Kommune was a municipality on the east coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 72 km², and had a total population of 20,024 (2005). Its last mayor was John Hemming, a member of the Conservative People's Party (Det Konservative Folkeparti) political party. The site of its municipal council was in Fredensborg.

Fredensborg Houses

The Fredensborg Houses form a housing complex in natural surroundings on the outskirts of the small town of Fredensborg in the north of Zealand, Denmark. The houses were designed by Jørn Utzon for Danes who have worked for long periods abroad.

Egelund Castle

Egelund Castle is a former royal residence built by Queen Dowager Louise Josephine from 1915 to 1917 on the road between Hillerød and Fredensborg, near the village of Nødebo and the southern tip of Lake Esrom, 35 km north of Copenhagen, Denmark. Today it is owned by Dansk Arbejdsgiverforening and used as a congress and training centre.
