Mors (island)

Mors or Morsø is a small island in the shallow sound called Limfjorden in Denmark. It has an area of 367.7 kma and as of 1 January 2010, it has a population of 21,800. The main town on the island is called Nykøbing Mors. Geologically Mors is unique. Mors, as the neighbouring island of Fur, is known for its deposits of diatomite, locally known as 'moler' (mo-clay). The development in the number of inhabitants on the island is as follows: 1980 — 24,647 1990 — 23,814 2000 — 22,989 2010 — 21,800

Morsø Municipality

Morsø municipality is a municipality in Region Nordjylland in northern Denmark. The municipality is located on the island of Morsø or Mors, an island in the Limfjord, the sound that separates the island of Vendsyssel-Thy from the rest of Jutland Peninsula. The municipality includes the smaller island of Agerø, and covers an area of 368 km². It has a total population of 22,091 (2008). Its mayor is Egon Pleidrup Poulsen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party.

Agerø

Agerø is a small Danish island in Limfjorden located in the waters between the larger island of Mors, to which it is connected by a dam and a bridge, and the Thyholm Peninsula. With an area of 3.8 km, it has a population of 38 as of 1 January 2010. Most of the island is cultivated but in the north there is a 25 hectare nature reserve of coastal meadows which are an important rest stop for migratory birds.

Vilsund Bridge

Vilsund Bridge (Vilsundbroen) is a bascule arch bridge that crosses Vilsund between Mors and Thy in northwestern Jutland, Denmark. The bridge is 382 metres long, and the longest span is 30 metres. Vilsund Bridge was designed by Anker Engelund. Construction started in 1937, and the bridge was opened on 16 July 1939.
