Sjællands Odde

Sjællands Odde is a 15 km long peninsula on the northwest coast of Zealand between the Kattegat and Sejerø Bay. From the outermost point of the peninsula, Gniben, a reef juts some 10 km out into the Kattegat. In the Stone Age Sjaellands Odde was a series of islands, but deposits over thousands of years have made it part of Zealand.

1982 Harpoon Missile Misfire Incident

On September 6, 1982 a frigate, the HDMS Peder Skram, accidentally fired a Harpoon missile during maneuvers in the Kattegat. The missile traveled 34 kilometers at low level, severing several power lines before striking some trees after which it exploded. The fireball and subsequent shock wave destroyed four unoccupied summer cottages, while damaging a further 130 buildings in the immediate vicinity. No human injury was reported.

Dragsholm Municipality

Until January 1, 2007, Dragsholm municipality was a municipality in West Zealand County on the northwest coast of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in Denmark, in a region known as Lammefjord, named after the inlet to the east of the municipality . The municipality covered an area of 152 km², and had a total population of 13,820 (2005). Its last mayor was Finn Madsen, a member of the Social Democrats (Socialdemokraterne) political party. The area is a popular summer home and beach area.

Nekselø

Nekselø is a small Danish island in the Kattegat off the west coast of Zealand. It forms part of Kalundborg Municipality. With an area of 2.2 km, as of 1 January 2010 it has a population of 20.

Dragsholm Castle

Dragsholm Castle is a historic building in Zealand, Denmark. For about 800 years there has been a building on the islet by the “drag”. From the original palace over the medieval castle to the current baroque style, Dragsholm Castle has had an influence on and been influenced by changing times and the surrounding community.
