Lautiosaari (railway junction)

Lautiosaari is a railway junction in the city of Kemi in Finland. The junction is located approximately two kilometers north from Kemi railway station on Oulu–Tornio main line where the Elijärvi branch line diverges from the main line. The junction is named after nearby Lautiosaari village within Keminmaa municipality. The junction consists of three railway signals and two interlocked and corresponding railway switches, forming a set of catch points protecting the main line.

Kemijoki

Kemijoki, with its 550 km length, is the longest river in Finland. It runs through Kemijärvi and Rovaniemi before reaching the Gulf of Bothnia at Kemi. At Rovaniemi the Ounasjoki river merges with Kemijoki. The first hydroelectric plant on Kemijoki was constructed in 1946 at Isohaara. A total of 15 power plants have been constructed so far. The plants are owned by Kemijoki Oy and Pohjolan Voima Oy.
