Niuvanniemi hospital is a state mental hospital in Kuopio, Finland. Along with the other state mental hospital, Vanha Vaasa hospital, it provides forensic psychiatric services for the entire country. Niuvanniemi is the main location for secure housing and involuntary commitment of criminal patients (i.e. individuals that a court has found criminally insane), and also receives difficult-to-treat or dangerous mental patients from other hospitals.

Niiralan monttu

Niiralan Monttu, officially Trust Kapital Arena (Kuopio Ice Hall), is the common nickname for the ice hockey arena in Kuopio, Finland which is also the home arena of KalPa. The name is derived from the location of the arena, which is in the Niirala part of Kuopio, more specifically at the bottom of a small excavation in that area (monttu means excavation in Finnish). Niiralan monttu can hold the maximum amount of 5004 spectators in the stands.
