Estelle (Arrigas)

Estelle is a hamlet in the Cévennes region of France in the peripheral zone of a national park. It has a population of around twenty permanent residents and twenty holiday homes. Estelle is old French for "star". The village belongs to the commune of Arrigas. The closest sizeable town is Le Vigan, capital town of Cévennes.

Mont Aigoual

Mont Aigoual (Occitan: Mont Augal, elevation 1567m / 5141 ft) is the highest point of the Gard département, France. It is part of the Massif Central, and it is located within the Cévennes National Park. Its southern slopes are the source of the river Hérault flowing into the Mediterranean. When the sky is clear, it is possible to see the Mediterranean Sea, the Pyrenees, and also the Alps and Mont Blanc in particular.

Lithographic limestone

Lithographic limestone is hard limestone that is sufficiently fine-grained, homogeneous and defect free to be used for lithography. Geologists use the term lithographic texture to refer to a grain size under 1/250 mm. The term sublithographic is sometimes used for homogeneous fine-grained limestone with a somewhat coarser texture.

Causses

The Causses are a group of limestone plateaus (700–1,200 m) in the Massif Central. They are bordered to the north-west by the Limousin and the Périgord uplands, and to the east by the Aubrac and the Cévennes. Large river gorges cut through the plateaus, such as the Tarn, Dourbie, Jonte, Lot and Aveyron. Causse is an Occitan word meaning "limestone plateau".
