Sender Zehlendorf is a radio transmission facility that has existed since 1936, when a short wave transmitter was built in Zehlendorf (a village part of Oranienburg) as part of the establishment of permanent radio services. This Zehlendorf site, which until the end of World War II was referred to as the Rehmate Radio Transmission Centre, had 26 different antennas.

Sachsenhausen concentration camp
Sachsenhausen or Sachsenhausen-Oranienburg was a Nazi concentration camp in Oranienburg, Germany, used primarily for political prisoners from 1936 to the end of the Third Reich in May 1945. After World War II, when Oranienburg was in the Soviet Occupation Zone, the structure was used as an NKVD special camp until 1950. The remaining buildings and grounds are now open to the public as a museum.

Waldsiedlung
Waldsiedlung (English: Forest settlement) was the secure housing zone built for the leaders of former East Germany. It was located near Wandlitz (Barnim) about 30 kilometres north of East Berlin. The most senior party members of the SED lived here in relative luxury from 1960 to 1989. Waldsiedlung and surrounding areas remained off-limits to all ordinary Germans until German reunification.
