Wisper

The Wisper is a 29,715 kilometer (18.6 mi) long river in Hesse, Germany, right tributary of the Rhine. Its source is in the western Taunus, Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis district, near a small village named Wisper. It flows southwest through a densely forested valley with some medieval castle ruins surrounded by a popular hiking area. A man-made lake, the Wispersee is stocked with trout and is a popular fishing destination. The Wisper flows into the Rhine at Lorch.

Burg Sooneck

Burg Sooneck (also known as Saneck or Sonneck, previously also known as Schloss Sonneck) is a castle in the upper middle valley of the Rhine, in the Mainz-Bingen district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is located near the village of Niederheimbach between Bingen and Bacharach. Since 2002, Burg Sooneck has been part of the Rhine Gorge UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Stahleck Castle

Stahleck Castle is a 12th-century fortified castle in the Upper Middle Rhine Valley at Bacharach in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It stands on a crag approximately 160 metres above sea level on the left bank of the river at the mouth of the Steeg valley, approximately 50 kilometres south of Koblenz, and offers a commanding view of the Lorelei valley. Its name means "impregnable castle on a crag", from the Middle High German words stahel (steel) and ecke .

Pfalzgrafenstein Castle

Pfalzgrafenstein Castle is a toll castle on the Falkenau island, otherwise known as Pfalz Island in the Rhine river near Kaub, Germany. Known as "the Pfalz," this former stronghold is famous for its picturesque and unique setting. The keep of this island castle, a pentagonal tower with its point upstream, was erected 1326 to 1327 by King Ludwig the Bavarian. Around the tower, a defensive hexagonal wall was built between 1338 to 1340.
