Wietze (Örtze)

The Wietze is a river, 29 kilometres long, in the South Lüneburg Heath, in Lower Saxony, Germany. The river rises east of the Soltau suburb of Moide and flows from there in a southerly direction to Wietzendorf. Here it is joined by the only tributary of any size, the Aue. The Aue has two source streams: the Hötzinger Aue, which rises north of Stübeckshorn, 98 m above sea level and the Alvernsche Aue, that has its source northwest of Alvern, 86 m above sea level.

Panzerlehrbrigade 9

The Panzerlehrbrigade 9 is a formation of about 5,000 men strong within the German Armed Forces or Bundeswehr, which is subordinated to the 1st Armoured Division in Hanover. The bulk of the brigade is stationed in Munster. Two battalions are based in Neustadt am Rübenberge.

Großes Moor (near Becklingen)

The Großes Moor near Becklingen (German: Großes Moor bei Becklingen) is a nature reserve in Germany with an area of 850 hectares, of which 666 hectares lie in Celle district and 184 hectares in Soltau-Fallingbostel district. Since 16 December 1985 the area has been protected under conservation law. An area of 776.6 hectares is designated as a special area of conservation (FFH-Gebiet).

Dittmern

Dittmern is a village in the borough of Soltau in the Heidekreis district in the German state of Lower Saxony. The village has 783 inhabitants . The hamlets of Friedrichseck, Hambostel, Grüne Aue, Heidenhof and Höpenhof belong to the parish of Dittmern. The Low Saxon name for Dittmern is Dibbern. Dittmern lies on the Lüneburg Heath northeast of Soltau on the Große Aue river. The district roads K 2 and K 9 and the A 7 motorway run through the parish.

German Tank Museum

The German Tank Museum is an armoured fighting vehicle museum in Munster, Germany, the location of the Munster Training Area camp. Its main aim is the documentation of the history of German armoured troops since 1917. It originated in 1983 from the instructional collection of the Panzertruppenschule, the Bundeswehr ("German Army") school for training officers and NCO's of German armoured units.
